Kudos

Congratulations to the fellows, coordinators, and others at SPIRIT sites who are leaving us for the next stage in their careers and training! Thank you, all, for the hard work and the many contributions you made to the NIH StrokeNet trials.

SISTER First Enrollment. Site PI James Giles, MD, and Lead Coordinator Rachel Kitagawa enrolled their first SISTER patient at Yale New Haven Hospital on May 2, 2024! This was also the first subject randomized into the SISTER study overall! Many were involved in making this happen, so thank you to everyone!

CAPTIVA-MRI is open for enrollments. Adam de Havenon, MD, (Yale) is the lead principal investigator for CAPTIVA-MRI, an observational multimodal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) study that is ancillary to the CAPTIVA trial. CAPTIVA-MRI will have 30 sites with the goal of enrolling 300 subjects. One of those sites, North Shore University Hospital (Site PI Rohan Arora, MD, and Coordinator Kirendra Pasram), opened to enrollment on June 10, 2024 and enrolled its first and the study's second subject on June 19, 2024.

Trial Focus: Site PI Arora and Coordinator Pasram

It should come as no surprise to anyone within the SPIRIT RCC how sensational recruitment efforts have been at North Shore University Hospital! In the three months prior to June 20, 2024, North Shore Hospital, with the leadership of Site PI Rohan Arora, MD, and Coordinator Kirendra Pasram, had 12 enrollments across five StrokeNet trials: seven into CAPTIVA, one into CAPTIVA-MRI, three into Sleep SMART, and one into ASPIRE. Their efforts put North Shore in the top echelon for both CAPTIVA (rank of 4 with 21 enrollments as of June 19, 2024) and Sleep SMART (rank of 6 with 42 enrollmens as of June 19, 2024). They are definitely doing something right!
